compared to other devices i already own, its pretty great. Just what I expected. The size is small so i can carry it anywhere and place it wherever I want.

Product shipped and received as promised. Setup was very easy, just install a AA battery and check to see if you are set to celsius or fahrenheit(there’s a switch on the back). It immediately displayed temp which matched what my thermostat was reading. The humidity level was in the range we expected but having nothing to compare this reading to I can’t give it five stars till I have verified it’s accuracy. The unit seems well made and has a panel on the back which flips out to allow it to be free standing and has a magnet on the back if you want to stick it on a metallic surface. Product is 2 1/2″W x 3″H x 1″D which is a perfect size to put in a guitar case to monitor humidity levels.
Solid visual reminder of RH

I bought this device so I could monitor the RH in the room in which I store and play my violin. It does a satisfactory job, though there are times the little house icon — totally ridiculous in my opinion — misreads and shows it is either too dry or too humid when, in fact, by the RH percentage everything is fine. Overall I’m happy with this purchase.
Not ugly, is accurate

Item is as described, I use it constantly to check humidity level in my bedroom, since I have humidifiers to assist with my sever excema. I have other electronic gauges and all of them are within 1% of each other when placed in the same room. That is good enough for me.
It never stated it in the description, so I’m not faulting the unit, but just an FYI. There is no back light option to quickly check the humidity level when the room is dark. Wall mounting it also seems impossible because there is clip on the back that is there is assist in angling the unit back to sit on a desk/nightstand. That clip seems to be apart of the casing itself. It does have a magnetized strip on the clip, so if you have metal behind your walls, or anything metallic in the room you want it in, you can stick it there — it will hold!

This products works as stated with no problems so far (about a week). I enjoy having the temperature and humidity info right on my desk. It’s functional and easy to read. I’d recommend.
Bought Two and Readings Were the Same

I bought one and liked it so much that I wanted another one to compare the measurements. I ordered the second one two weeks after ordering the first one, and then I had to wait two more weeks because Amazon was out of them; so maybe they were of different production lots. The readings on each were exactly same on each, except for the temperature on one may have been 0.5 degrees higher. I also like that the MIN and MAX readings are for only the last 24 hours; who cares that an extreme was months ago.

I was nervous about purchasing two of these, having read the mixed reviews, but I am really happy with them. I placed the two units side by side and close to my room thermostat and found that, after a few minutes adjusting, temperature and humidity readings were the same for all three. I have since retested the units and have found the same results. I like the 24 hour maximum minimum readings and the very clear display. I would have liked the humidity and temperature readings to be the same size, but that is a minor problem. The price, accuracy, clarity of display and portability were right for me.
simple, but effective

This is a hard to find item, and this one is a simple, effective unit. I needed a couple to measure the humidity in several rooms. In the Winter, often the indoor humidity can drop below 20%. I can turn on a humidifier in the rooms that get extremely dry. The Chaney Indoor Thermometer is simple to use: you just add batteries and it works immediately
